For a group project in our design production course at Western Washington University, we were assigned to make an exhibition based on the dimensions of a museum located in Bellingham. The topic was PNW folklore, where our group decided to do a Washington theme exhibit, representing the five senses and how one would experience them in the Evergreen State.
This project ended up being one of the funnest assignments I worked on in my college career. I learned that working with my hands and as a part of a team is somewhere I truly thrive. Plus, who has never dreamed about practically building their own dollhouse? (Maybe thats just me). It was a collaborative effort finishing this project. Measuring each piece to scale, managing our limited lab time, creating a user journey through the exhibit, and learning new tools such as our lab's industrial printers and laser cutter machines were all things that came to us very quickly.
In collaboration with Yan Wang, Renita Kolica, Casey Rogers, & Mads Rothell
We got lucky in that everyone got to use their strong suits during this process. We all had a say in each step of this process, but we each had specific tasks we focused on in order to execute successfully. Yan on aesthetics/theme planning and taking and editing our final photos, Renita on machinery and organization of materials while Casey was on prepping the pieces, Mads on copy writing and presentation preparation, while I was on final assembly. I am confident we could each build our own exhibition independently after learning so much from eachother.
